Little as Frogger

Daddy and Little walked out to Lake Lagunita on Saturday, looking for snakes and frogs, which is great to do this time of year. Little found lots of toads and frogs.

Daddy: Ok, Little, go try to catch one, but remember they're very fast and hard to catch.
Little:

Yeah, she was definitely better than Daddy at it. So they spent a couple hours catching western toads and pacific tree frogs. Daddy tried to teach her how to be gentle but she always said "don't worry Daddy, I'm being really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really soft, see?"

So maybe that lesson didn't turn out so good. But Little had a stupendous blast! Littler and Daddy had found a racer last week there but no luck this week. Spring is great!

The highlight of the trip for Daddy came when he thought he saw a toad on the ground but then noticed that it was just a clump of mud. Little saw it too, and ran over very excited. As she was reaching out for it she said "Look, Daddy! I caught another..." then she grabbed it and noticed it wasn't a frog "...bhuaslkjbksjbcilusdfkj....." she trailed off indistinctly, obviously embarrassed. It was darn cute.

Anybody want to come help Little find some herps this saturday?

What a great idea! I didn't know there were frogs over there. I'll have to take my kids and revisit some of my childhood memories of frog hunting.
