We did it!

We sold our car today. We're finally car-free, insurance-free, parking-space-fee-free, C02-free, freedom-free. Yay!

I just can't imagine that life at all. Something we can't really do living where we do--space as well as time. Plus I suck at bike riding. But I'm wondering if you are planning on just buying another car when you have another kid? Or are you planning on staying car-free forever?

Congratulations!! I'm so impressed. I've been riding my bike around all week, doing my errands. It's really not too hard to do in the bay area, since things are pretty close and the weather is usually gorgeous.

Are you going to do the zip-car thing? Chris was telling me about it, it's cool.

Yeah, we'll do zipcar when we need to drive somewhere, like Costco, or to the beach or something. We don't drive often enough for it to cost too much, so it works out great for us.

Congratulations! We're thinking about buying a house downtown, so we can walk to everything, absolutely everything. Plus there's the Skat, the Skagit County transit, that drives all over town and could add to our range. I love the idea of being carless! Also in times of lots of moving around, renting seems the way to go. As my eldest points out, it allows you to change the size of your pants as you expand. Something like that. Let us know the first time you 1) miss it, or 2) feel poignantly intensely glad that you don't have it.
